The old version vs the new version

I personally enjoyed the older version better. When the movie was updated, Mahanna's character was more negative, and there was a part in the old movie that I thought made such a powerful point, that was not included in the revised version. That part was, after Johnny and Mahanna were married, they left for a year (or so). Upon their return was an obvious and tremendous improvement of Mahanna's self esteem and respect for herself, as was evidenced by her pleasantness, outgoing spirit, and significant improvement in her grooming. The rapid conclusion gained was that when a person is removed from a negative environment, and placed in one where they are shown much love, not only does their self-respect and self-esteem grow, but their beauty magnifies from the inside out. This point was made in the new version, but it was much more powerful in the older version.

How can I get a copy of the older version?

It's on a dvd entitled "Four LDS Film Classics on DVD: Featuring Johnny Lingo," available through Deseret Bookstores. I'll include the link, but, if it's deleted, head to deseretbook.com & search for Johnny Lingo.

A college night school class in which I was enrolled was shown this over 40 years ago.
