Why was the girl asked about an Advocate?

When Comrade Olivera asked that girl about her blood-stained pad, what was she talking about when she asked the girl about having an Advocate?
I did not understand the reference.

reply

I think it was because another girl spoke up during the reprimand.

reply

This is correct. Nobody would dare to talk back to Olivera and this is why she is sarcastically asking Lenche about the advocate.

reply

Why was she questioned about it in the first place though? Didn't girls have periods back then too? I mean, it was stupid! Olivera was just angry because her red pants were stolen or whatever...

reply

A girl spoke in her name, she ask her is she "asked for a Advotace" to which she replied no, and the Olivera turned on the girl that spoke for her. It should have the same besic effect as her asking "did you ask her to speak in your name".

And yes Olivera was very angry, you have to remember what those red panties represent, and how dead bent she is on the matter.

reply

that is because Lenche stood up for her friend..tried to defend her..
she asked her if she needed an advocate because the girl answered instead of her..

...and now I see that it's been 3 years since someone posted this :D
