Someone Please Explain This To Me.......(plot hole central)

1.) The movie begins with Brittany standing ALONE in the Glades, saying how much she misses her Mom.

QUESTION: If her Mother was in on this the whole time with her, this makes no sense. She would have known her Mother was alive.

2.) If the rich Dad was such a cheating jerk, Brittany and her Mother could have just devised a plan, and killed him by themselves. They could have created an accident or whatever - there are countless ways to kill someone.

QUESTION: Why would the Mom FAKE HER OWN DEATH, then wait months/years, and involve Maya, the Dr, and all these other players. Brittany and her Mom could have just had him killed, and collected the MONEY! When a husband dies, the wife gets the money. (Unless his will specifically said otherwise, but if he is MARRIED, the wife DOES get money).

3.) QUESTION: What was the point of the "dead rat" plotline?? That never really panned out. They crashed the plane with the dead body of Maya's REAL Dad, in it. They show him all gross and sitting up in the plane w/ glasses on. The rats didn't come on the plane with him.....why did they throw in the rats/"rodent problem in the cellar" plot? Just to throw the investigators off or what??

4.) As the movie ends, (just as in the original Wild Things movie), they play clips of things we didn't see during the movie....the scene that IS SO CONFUSING, is the scene where Maya is on her back, having sex with Miles (the rich Dad). WHY????? During sex, she is bored, looking at her watch, and saying, "you sure this will work"?? WTF?

If anyone has answers, I would appreciate it...these plot holes are killing me.

1) Well, her Mom wasn't in the vicinity and her mother faked her death there. So she just could've been saying she actually missed her mother. Last place she was..in "Blue Bay."

2) This way, there are so many twists and turns with who could have been behind the plot. Also, by getting the Insurance investigator involved and getting Maya's body planted in her car, gave her plenty of time to get on the plane get outta dodge.

3) Rats were suppose to have eaten through some wires or something, causig step-daddy's original plane crash. Again..to get someone (turned out to be Insurance Investigator) involved to suspect foul play.

4) Maya having sex with stepdaddy? To get them both involved with the plot. To think they were fooling each other. Hence her looking bored and him not really caring.

Basically relies on the police department being lazy and incompetent.

Not my idea, officers! The inept writers...I would imagine.

The whole thing doesn't hold up at all. I don't understand why they had to involve anyone else at all. Stepdad could have just altered his will and let the stepdaughter inherit the money, then faked his death. No need for anything else whatsoever...
Lazy writing all round.

the dad had the gambling debts and was trying to get away from his financial troubles. he came up with the plan to get all of them away. then he found out the wife and daughter had their own plan

she knew her mother was alive but she was playing a role. after the mother faked the death she had to act like her mother had died, which is what she was doing

with the sex i could be wrong but i thought that was becasue of the dna test. she told him if he came in her and they did a swab the dna would match

thats what i thought as i saw it

Yeah, she was basicially playing everyone including Maya because no one else knew her mom was still alive. And poor Bridge (the insurance investigator) getting involved set him up as the perfect fall guy. Helping Brittney get away safe.

It's very common in real life for husbands and wives to kill their spouse so they can collect money (which is why insurance agents exists). They're always the prime suspects. This way, no one would ever think they did it.
