Necklace

I love the necklace that Ginger wears. So does my daughter and she is a big film fan, esp. of this trilogy (series?)- does anyone know where I can get a replica of this piece??? Her birthday is coming up fast and I would love to surprise her with one....

Sorry dude, but there are no good replica's. Fans can't even agree on wich bird's skull it actually is. It could also be a fictious bird skull, wich means you'd need 2 contact the production company.

I agree. I don't think you'll find a replica, but there are some bird necklaces sell via ebay or try googling it. I found some nice ones, but none real, just some made of brass and silver, which are also nice to have.

Thank you each for your help with this. I have yet to find just the right piece and will most likely have to "settle" for some thing near as possible. I appreciate you taking time to post. (I will check ebay for the skull-type mentioned.) Happy Holidays!

i wasnt sure if you were checking the boards... here are some links. it might actually be the woodpecker skull or the sandhill crane skull. both look like the one in the movie, i think.

It occurs to me that it may be an American Robin:

hmmm that link to the american robin looks like it. maybe thats it the american robin. if not, it looks very similar to it, so it would be a good buy if anybody is interested in finding a necklace of the same exact bird/or one that looks similar to it.

definitely not a sandhill crane - those skulls are 8 inches long! maybe woodpecker. my bet is, with the production budget of these films, they bought - rather than had made - the skulls, so i think you could probably find the source, too. my bet is on piliated woodpecker from boneclones.com. especially with the added symbolism of the piliated being extremely rare and close to extinction.

I think it is a boiled chicken skull. A fun home project! or see if there is one available from some sort of processing plant, or better yet check a nearby farmer's market, ask someone selling poultry, they could probably help out. the string appears to be a length of rawhide.

It occurs to me that it could be a raven or crow's skull.
That Would make sense, because don't they have spiritual significance about holding people's souls, or some such thing? I certainly seem to remember hearing the characters on That 70s Show say (angrily) to the character Fez, "You killed a crow? ... You just killed someone's SOUL, man!", or something similar, so I'm guessing that's a fairly common belief.
