Netflix streaming version is cut

Just started this film, which looks like a lot of fun, streaming from netflix. It has many words dubbed and doesn't make sense. It's supposedly rated NC-17, but it's all suggestion, since there is no male nudity or sex act on screen in this edit. The famous hokey-pokey bottle scene is cut to the point where it looks like everyone is shocked at Sylvia's fully-clothed dancing. Not finishing because I want to see the uncut version.

uhmm.... yeah, wtf. i'm watching it now as well.

i've seen the NC-17 version and this is NOT it. dead giveaway is every single swear word is dubbed over or bleeped out. ....i feel like i was tricked and it's all a joke. haha.

There's two versions. The unrated one, then the "neuter" version. THis is a movie that needs to be seen UNRATED. Like True Romance.

This is hilarious! I watched this two days ago on netflix an I messaged my friend telling her that Netflix edited the movie. They even blurred out the middle finger.

I came here to post the same thing lol.

Utah! Get me two.

After reading this, makes me glad I still get dvd's by mail. Those can't be censored, at least for now.

I actually rented this from Netflix, and it was the NC-17 version. I rented the physical DVD; I didn't stream the film.

It sucks that they would do this. The Sundance Channel also edited this film when they show it.

If you can't find it for rent uncut, just buy it. It's only 5.99 on amazon brand new. I bought a copy recently.

I'm wondering if there is some type of settings in Netflix preventing some from seeing the original version.

I just watched it streaming, and it was definitely not censored. Bottle scene was there, including the flashing of the male nurse's junk right before it. I'm now on a search to find the thick/chunky neighbor that is shown nude in the film.

Same here, streaming it now via netflix (just passed the uncensored water bottle scene), and have noticed nothing dubbed or cut from this version. Not sure what's going on...

I just watched it on Netflix and nothing was cut. Maybe some people accidentally (or on purpose for their kids) set up parental controls?

Lisa: Laughter is the language of the soul.
Bart: I am familiar with the works of Pablo Neruda.

Strange, I just watched the Netflix mailed DVD version of this and it was NOT the NC-17 version. It was dubbed, cut and blurred. The website said that it was NC-17 but it wasn't. Guess you got lucky or I got unlucky. Oh well.

reply

That's no good.

Honestly, you should just buy the DVD. The film is that good, and it's only 5.99 new. That's damn cheap.

reply

Yup, just watched it. It is the uncut version.

I looked at the runtime before I watched to make sure though.

reply

the version I just watched on Netflix streamer is the UNCUT version. I did the research to look up the two different versions. On the streamer it's DEFINITELY the uncut version.

reply

I just watched an hour of it on Netflix and there was lots of male nudity...

reply

So they fixed it? That's great cause I'm not gonna waste my time watching some watered down censored version of anything. I was worried netflix was gonna turn into walmart.

reply

Why do they show the R Rated logo on IMDB?
