Willow's Spells - Help!

For some reason when ever I try to use the possession, homing, or sun spell nothing happens. I can't for the life of me figure it out. I've checked the magic book a million times to make sure I'm pushing the right combination of buttons. The fireball, shield, and sonic blast spells work fine. I thought maybe it was my controller because it's been known to be temperamental sometimes but I actually bought a new controller and it still isn't working. Is there something I missing for these spells? Do I need to be holding a certain weapon or be unarmed when I try to use them? Do I need to target the enemies somehow? It's driving me insane because I'm at the end of the Sunnydale Mall level and apparently the only way to beat it is to use the spells that I can't get to work. Any ideas? By the way I've got the PS2 version of the game.

I had/have the same problem, you do have to be unarmed (aside from the stake). I think that its more the game to blame that the spells dont always tend to work. Also, make sure that when you try a spell that the blue bar is full, because if its empty they wont work at all.

hmmm sounds quite odd the sun spell and homing you should have no problem with, the possession spell is the only one that is a bit tricky. For the possession spell to work you have to make sure you are standing directly in front of a Vampire, and make sure there is more then one Vampire in the room or the spell won't work. The whole point of the spell is for the vamps to kick each others butts until they have no energy then u can just stake them.
