Buffy 1 vs. Chaos Bleeds

How many people think that the first Buffy game was like a thousand times better than this one? I mean, I like this one, but Vivendi shouldn't have done it. Gotham games (Original?) should have.

The only good thing about this one is being able to be Willow, Xander, Sid, Spike, and, most of all, Faith. I don't know why I say "most of all" for Faith, 'cause she's the same as Buffy, but I just think she's cool and witty. "Faith, pest control."

I agree with the person who said it before that Spike shouldn't be able to be killed just by getting beaten up. But, then again, this one screws with the mythology already: you can stab vampires with metal and it'll kill them; and, unlike the first game, you can't cut off vampire heads.

(Pro) Buffy One: More fun.
(Con) Buffy Two: Fun, but less.

(Depends on your preference)(Pro for me) Buffy One: Very true to the mythology.
(Depends on your preference)(Con for me)Buffy Two: Nearly wholly disregards the entire mythology.

(Con) Buffy One: Only Buffy is playable. (Other than stupid secret crap)
(Pro) Buffy Two: Not only Buffy, but also Willow, Xander, Spike, Sid, and Faith.

Overall, Buffy One wins (in my book)!

I agree with everything you said, but you left out one major point...Chaos Bleeds is FAR too easy. I got it a few days ago and completed it in the first night. I'm playing it again now to see if I can get all the secrets.
As for this having more playable characters, the fighting styles (with the exception of Willow and possibly Sid) where too similar for me.
Overall though, still a lot of fun.

I know, there are so many double-characters! Buffy and Faith are the same; AND Xander and Spike are the same. Willow and Sid are, as you said, the only distinct characters.

I kind of found Sid / Zander boring. Spike was OK if he was the only one out of him and Zander playable but their fighting styles were identical and as such unrealistic (Spike should have been stronger and faster than Zander).

What was the exact title of the first Buffy game? I just got into gaming, but have always enjoyed the mythology behind the Buffy series.

By the way, do you think they will make more Buffy-related games?

The original Buffy game which is only avaliable on XBOX is called Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

I agree with some of what you're saying, but as far as being able to stab vampires with metal to kill them, you're wrong.

If you carefully observe the axes and other weapons Buffy stabs them with, there's wood sticking out of the very top. I'm guessing it acts like a stake in the heart, and thus doesn't counteract the mythology.

If you carefully read mythology on vampires, they can be killed with silver as well. Which accounts for the sword Spike's using. Swords are not only made of steel, and i'm guessing if it's in the basement of the magic shop it's not your typical sword, but a silver one. Thus, the mythology isn't broken.

Also, people tend to forget that the majority of this game takes place in the alternate dimension where normal rules don't apply.

This is why Vampires can run around in daylight, as well as the nitpicks above. I know all the weapons except for the sword had wooden handles, and perhaps there is some wood on that too.

Either way, it's Kakistos's world and his rules so that leaves a lot of room for the game makers to take liberties where it was needed.

My main problem with the game is the lack of control on targeting, which seems to only be an option with the crossbow. It can be frustrating while I am doing a combo that proceeds me forward away from who I am trying to fight, meanwhile getting hit in the head or something. Once the combo starts I am stuck moving in whatever direction it points with no ability to control myself. Without any way to specify a target, or better yet to lock onto one, it tends to be hit and miss .. with miss getting to be frustrating especially since you can not change aim once you hit an attack button.

I do find it a bit easy, but it is still a bunch of fun. I hope they continue to make games, and an Angel game would be great. :)

Not done with Buffy 1, so I can't make too much of a comparison.

What about the Angel episode where Kate stabs through Angel and into another Vampire's heart which dustes that particular vamp? She was using a jagged pipe. That's it. No wood.

Scaper for life.

Actually she used a plank...

On Buffy a vampire needed to be staked with wood through the heart, decapitated, set on fire or exposed to sunlight/holy water in excess. Metal would be able to kill them if it caused decapitation but not impaling through the chest.

it's a lot easiert than chaos bleeds. in my opinion.
well, i'm not sure which i like better, but the second one is more fun, don't know why

Hey, I was just wondering, can the original Buffy game be found in PS or PS2 versions. All I've found are Xbox versions. I have found Chaos Bleeds in PS2 but can't find the original one. Could anybody help me out?

I don't like in CB how retarded staking is, in the first one it use to be so much more fluent now you gotta get a certain angle and all.

And it feels so much more slower, especially when you jump.

I love the first Buffy game and continue to play it since the day I got it in (2003)

No, the original Buffy game is an XBOX exclusive which, basically put, means that the game is only avaliable for XBOX & this game was never ported to any other system.

reply

The first one has the best fighting techniques and weapons but CB is a bit funnier and you can play as different characters. Overall I say the 1st one is the best!

reply

I like them both.

But I hate it when my screen goes all over the place in CB and how its harder to fight vampires, because its all slow and it takes forever to get back up, aswell as the health bar being really small. However I like it how you can play different characters.

reply

Plus you get to visit lots of different locations in the second one but I would say the locations in the first one is better.

Prue: "I'm Prue, a Scorpio."

- "Sleuthing With The Enemy"

First one, for various reasons:
1) You move and hit faster
2) The "Slayer Power" moves, when time slows down and stuff
3) You keep the crossbow and hellfire/holy water gun all the way thru the game
4) Better locations (Bronze, Sunken Chruch)

But CB has some redeeming quialities:
1) You don't have to use a cheat to get multiplayer, and there more locations and characters on the arena mode
2) You get to play as more characters (Always a plus)
3) The graphics are better
4) The boss fights are cooler

But overall, I'd say Buffy 1 is better, but CB is rather enjoyable nonetheless

Chaos bleeds always struck me as WAY too easy. When I got the first Buffy game, it took me weeks, I think maybe even months to finish. With the second one, I was done in maybe a week or two.

Besides, I like how there seemed to be more to do and explore in the first one, even if in the second one you got to play different characters. The only level I found really challenging in the second one was Vampire Tara. Although, I did find some glitches in the second one in the Sunnydale Mall & Sunnydale Zoo levels, overall it wasn't a bad game. I suck at fighting as Willow though LOL.

When i got the first game i was like WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it is actually pretty good, one of my favourite games and as much as i like chaos bleeds, the first one is far better, especially the moves you can perform! and even the story

I like both, but I definitely prefer the first Buffy game for Xbox. Mainly since i'm a bigger fan of the earlier seasons, and I like the general storyline, background music, and fighting moves more in that game. The only thing I like better about Chaos Bleeds is that you get a chance to play other characters besides just Buffy (I love playing as Faith^^). But other than that, Buffy I is my preferred game .
