The guy stealing entrees
What was up with the guy who was caught "stealing entrees"? Was he actually stealing or was it a misunderstanding?

shareIt's an old resturant scam. Serve and charge the customer for 4 dinners, and only have 2 on the bill (which the resturant gets..)
The point was - the character was driven to desperation by loosing his job at the age of 58 - with 3 children to raise. So - he turned to stealing.
I never heard of this being that I am an honest person. I guess he pockets the extra money that the resturaunt does not know about.
shareduh... he doesn't "pocket" the extra money, he just gets to keep the extra food that would otherwise be thrown out. As if the guys eating the jumbo shrimps that the patron sent back didn't tip you off to how that all worked.
shareDuh, you're an idiot. The guy already stated he's working a double shift, What's he gonna do, hide the food in his pocket all day? Do you honestly think he would vomit all over himself over a couple of entrees?
The guy is pulling the oldest resturant/convienence store scam in the book. Charge the customer full price, ring up less, keep the difference. Anyone who has worked a single day in any cashier related job knows about this. Usually your employer will tell you about it under the pretense "We know all about this so don't think we're not watching."

I heard of this when I worked in a restaurant. It was not a great place to work but I never saw anyone do that.
I saw a variant of this in "A Taxing Woman", Japanese movie. In that scam it was to cheat the tax collectors.
