Ok I'm actually going to take this question seriously.
Obviously the homosexuality/marriage issue still rages on in this country, or at least every election year when politicians have to let you know their stance on it, so the idea of having a movie dealing with a gay couples struggles would indeed have some basis for a solid movie.
I have gay friends, and many of them have pointed out to me that they just want to live a normal life just like anyone else, but that the biggest obstacle/issue in their life, is the hatred they receive from the Christian community.
So the concept of "gay couple wanting to be together/married vs anti-homosexual movement" does have merit in our world, and could indeed be done in a powerful way on the big screen. If done correctly, it could be one of those movies that would make us all stop and think a little about how we treat others that we consider "below" us or even "different."
Obviously, Sam's problem, amongst many others, is that he knows absolutely nothing about Christianity, as is evident by his portrayal of every christian in this film. Fixing that part alone would have at least lent SOME credibility to this thing.
And of course having some actual actors, an actual good Panavision camera, an actual church set, no visible tripod, etc....
