What's with the female enemies?!

I still haven't completed this game despite buying it when it was released. I've only got past a really difficult part about 3 days ago and I'm finally about a third of the way through the Rio De Janeiro level.
By this time, I've encountered quite a few female enemies and I just really need to rant about them. Why are they so darn vicious?! Whenever I encounter a female enemy, I count my lucky stars if I have a gun or any other weapon but if I don't, I usually flee far away or fight a bit, go somewhere safe, regain full health and go back again for another shot. Is it just me or is it really difficult to attack them? They keep shoving me backwards constantly whenever I'm in mid-kick/punch and they LOVE to grab and tip me backwards onto the floor. They do it every few seconds when I fight them! All the male enemies are nowhere near as brutal as them. I can silence them in a few seconds flat, depending on my luck, even when I'm seemingly outnumbered when I fall into a mass of gunmen. Maybe it's just because I can't get close enough to attack them but it seems that their health lasts for longer than the male enemies, even when I give them a going-over as best I can.
Here's what happened to me recently. I just completed the Embassy level a matter of hours ago and getting past that final female guard beside the last fire alarm was driving me crazy! The first time I tried, she got rid of all my health and killed me on the spot. Then the second time, I got her on the floor, ran to the door, used the keycard, and ran through the doors, locking her inside. I ran all the way up to the ballroom (time's rapidly running out) and wondered why the doors were locked. Then I remembered that I forgot to hit the fire alarm on my way out! I went back and through brute force, finally killed her and, hit the alarm. By some miracle, I then managed to get everyone out and escape the embassy in the nick of time (just under 15 seconds left!) However, if I'd alerted another female guard by getting spotted on the CCTV, I have no doubt that I would have failed the mission.
So, does anyone else have the same problem with these enemies or is it just my fighting style that needs improving? I'd heard a lot of people saying that the martial arts moves were difficult to execute. I don't know why the females in this game are so vicious but being a girl myself, I can honestly say that it's realistic because when girls fight, they don't give up and have no rules!

Didn't really notice any difference between the male and female guards (difficulty -wise). Even the boss fights were painfully easy. I was most disappointed in the final boss fight with Anna Espinoza. The only thing I hate about this game is the damn controls. There was this level in which I had to sneak on some sort of platform above to reach computers A and B to try and deactivate a couple of gun turrets below. Because of the poor controls and horrible camera, I keep falling off the platform -- and, in effect, I get gunned-down by the turrets. It was frustrating the fell out of me. One time, the gun turret closest to me wasn't facing my direction when I fell off the platform, so I had a small window to get out of harm's way. Alas, the controls were so unresponsive that Sydney didn't even climb the ladder I was trying to make her climb -- and she was already facing the ladder at that. Obviously, the small window I had closed on me...I died.

I noticed! They always grabbed you and threw you over their heads!. And I mean this was like THE only move they done. It was really annoying.
