None of Aileen's 'family' stories add up

Aileen said at one point that her mother abandoned the family when she was a baby and that her father killed himself when she was very young. In this documentary, Aileen says that she came from a "real clean and decent family"--that her father was a "very straight man" who didn't believe in cussing, long hair, etc. She says the same thing about her mother. But Wikipedia says this: Wuornos never met her father; he was incarcerated at the time of her birth and eventually hanged himself in prison. So...WTF? She was ultimately raised by her grandparents, so I thought maybe she was referring to her grandma and grandpa as her mom and dad, but that doesn't make sense either because according to Wikipedia: "Wuornos said that her alcoholic grandfather had sexually assaulted and beaten her when she was a child." So where exactly were these clean and decent parents she referred to??? I cannot make heads or tails of her family situation...none of it adds up.
