There is a Message here...

I felt the need to watch this again after years, and well after seeing Charlize's amazing performance. I feel as I did then. In my opinion, she was what is called a "perfect storm' in the form of a human/woman. She is such a sad pathetic reflection of what can happen to what some would term a woman as 'damaged goods'. I'm a victim of past sexual abuse and even bullying at school and I know... it's a horrible thing to overcome, but it can be done. I hope everyone in her past that inflicted harm on her feels as guilty as they should be. I do feel sorry for the victim's families, some I realize where just at the wrong place at the right time. Very sad. If there is any message here I would say we have to ALL do better in raising our children.

You are so right. This is something that I wish more coverage had been brought to the publics eye. This was a result of a Horrible, Tragic and shocking way society can create a so called "Monster". She didn't have a chance and no one along the way ever helped her. If she had been so horrible, she would have murdered that old 70 year old president of the Coal company who was filthy rich but she never got the help she needed mentally. Again, a failure of the system when children services could maybe have saved her. She never hid who she was so someone along the way could have helped her but instead they ridiculed her further, robbed her self esteem and any chance of her value as a human being. I can see why she learned to become "Disassociated" with herself as a human being because she was never treated like one. People who are traumatized learn many ways to cope with their trauma. I know personally. I wish she had stayed with that old man and inherited his fortune and maybe it could have given her a chance at a happy and normal life or perhaps she was already too far gone. I pray she God received her as she did all she could to ask for forgiveness.

Oh please... Plenty of people have been bullied and have had terrible childhoods that didn't go out and murder multiple human beings

This victim mentality BS is what's wrong with the world

You dumbass, read the OP's post again. She said she was also abused and bullied as well. She didn't go out killing people, so you're just singing to the choir.

Wuornos had a lot of things working against her already...she was a child of (probably) low intelligence, born to a suicidal schizophrenic convicted of molesting children. She was abandoned to her alcoholic grandfather, who ritualistically beat and sexually abused her.. At one point she was thrown out of the house, and went to live in the snow in the woods....for like, a year.

Some people could come out of that alright (MAYBE!) but some, like Wuornos, will emerge damaged...and prone to snap.

You're basically saying environment does not effect anyone.
