why on saturday

why is the show now on saturdays?

reply

cuz the show is not doin good, so they move it to saturday

reply

During a recent appearance on Last Call With Carson Daly, Tracy Morgan told Carson he was happy about his show's move to Saturday because "he wanted to get away from the whole American Idol thing." Though, I'm pretty sure the real reason for the move to Saturday (in addition to low viewership) is that NBC hopes that the same viewers who commit to watching SNL every Saturday will commit to watching The Tracy Morgan Show as well.

saturdays have been the death of many sitcoms (the last, truly successful shows i can think of that were broadcast on saturday nights were Golden Girls and Empty Nest... but that was like 12 years ago).

Typically, saturday nights are reserved for reruns, tv movies, news magazines, and of course, shows like "The Tracy Morgan Show", which are quickly on their way out. The reason being is that people are out doing things, and have nothing to do the next day other than go to church or sleep (heh... though, i do both!). SNL has done so well because it has NO viable competitors, and it's now a legacy, even if some people don't think it's funny (those people who say that are often some of the most faithful viewers, because they can tell you every single second that wasn't "hilarious")

For Tracy, it's a shame... he's such a good actor and comedian, but I couldn't stand to watch this show more than 3 weeks before I was sick of its tired cliches and boring plots).

I'm surprised that the show isn't doing well, and then I'm not.
It's been 15-20yrs since the heyday of The Cosby Show and since then it seems
that most of the black sitcoms that have been successful have featured
black men in buffoon roles.
Family Matters(Urkel),Martin Lawrence,Jamie Foxx,The Wayans Brothers.
Even now,Junior on My Wife and Kids is a complete imbissile.

Now there are 2 shows that were funny and showed black men in positive
leadership roles, and one is nearly cancelled (The Andersons) and Tracy Morgan's
ratings are low.
Both have a black man as a business owner(John Amos,Morgan)and Anthony Anderson
is an aspiring actor who is very hands on with his son,as is Morgan.
They both have strong female roles as well(Roz Ryan,Tamala Jones).
There are laughs but the buffoonery is very low and each episode teaches a
family lesson.

America needs these shows.
It seems most of the black men that you see on TV are athletes, entertainers,
or criminals. It's good to see shows with everyday regular black men that pull
their weight and support their families. America acts as if that never happens.
I guess that's why no one watches....

You have a great point there, Bobo. As long as there are certain people running the networks and are afraid of showing that there can be smart comedies of black America not much will change. I'm still wait to see a black lead drama on any of the major sitcoms (NBC, CBS, ABC) I guess that they only see us as funny enough to one their networks or serous enough to be at least the third rate, bit player

when do they give that show. i want to see it. what channelle, time, and day

You said "Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx,The Wayans Brothers"

Um Martin the TV show has to be one of the funniest shows ever. His characters are beyond hilarious. You said buffoon roles. If Martin was full of buffoon roles then I must be a buffoon too for watching it along with millions of others. Martin the show is probally the funniest tv show of the 90's.
