Keep in mind that the last episode of the anime isn't exactly a conclusion to the story. This is due to the fact that the story was to continue on in the manga; which it did. Unfortunately I believe there are no translated versions of the manga available at this point and I can't read Japanese (yet!) so I'm not sure what the actual conclusion is.
