Anyone else watch the movie first?

I haven't watched the series but watched the movie last night and all I can say is WTF?! It all made some sort of sense in the end but the whole time I was in some sort of limbo where I would watch a scene that seemed to make sense and then all of a sudden, it would cut to something completely different and screw with your head.

Anyway, I liked the animation. Very tasteful and elegant. The story (from whatever I could piece together) was also intriguing.

Yeah, the movie sucks compared to the anime. If you watched the movie, you should also watch the anime, which is so much better.

I watched the movie and have never seen the anime and I was completely lost at the end of the movie.

The movie was made for people who had seen the anime. I remember when I saw the movie, though I liked it, I was wondering how many people in the audience were tilting their heads.

I haven't watched the movie specifically because I haven't seen all of the series yet. i've only seen the first 3 dvds and it awesome. Definitely suggest all fans of anime to watch it.

I'm not sure why people keep saying "the anime" when noting the different versions. Unless there's a live-action movie, then the motion picture version is also anime, so "the series" would be more accurate. Anyway, I'm actually reading the manga right now, and liking it a lot. I've given thought to seeing the series, since I've heard nice things, but I think I really just prefer the manga scenario. As for the movie, I agree that in general it tends to be a rather annoying and unsuccessful affair when an attempt is made to condense a story intended as a series into a movie version.

Because time is condenced on the inside of the dome, it's actually inside a different reality. The dome was created by the Mu in order to monitor the growth of the Instrumentalist, the sining "Dolems" (They are not mecha's) are just creations of the Mu as advanced weapons platforms. There are in fct 2 Tuners, who will tune the world but the Mu piloting the Dolems are not tuners.

... that Haruka and Ayato have sex before Ayato starts taking a romatic interest in her (I've heard about one-night stands, but this statutory "prison-rape" was a bit far out in backwards-land), or
... that they acutally released this muddled clip-show of a movie.

Ah, well, some people liked the movie so all's not lost I guess.

Having seen both the series and movie and enjoying them both I have to say one really should watch the series first. The movie is pretty much an alternate retelling of the story, not so much a summary, that is really from Haruka's point of view. The film I believe assumes you've seen the series and know what happens in there so it doesn't really have to go into a lot of things. It's not meant to be a summary of things I feel but focus on Haruka then anything else really.

totally agree with u neostar9, though i found the series the best by far, I just seem to prefer the movies ending, seems more of happier ending, so basically this what i found from watching both;

movies ending: haruka remembers all that happend, she didn't loose her memories after the world was tuned, she and Ayato remember everything and live a happy life together, thus y she turns into her 29 year old self when Ayato appears, a sort of reminesance or memory of when she was truly happy e.g. those times with Ayato in T.E.R.R.A. and the uncles house etc, though from her disappearing, i take that she died there and joined Ayato in heaven lol.

series ending: everything is erased and tuned into what Ayato wanted most " A life with Haruka and every1 elses happiness", but non of them have memories of their life before the world was tuned. Its a happy ending but sad in the sense that they don't remember what happend, though from the painting of rahxephon, maybe Ayato remembers or it could just be fragments of a distant memory from another life ;).

any1 else agree or have there own idea???

I liked both endings. This is unusual for me, but I actually cannot choose a superior to the other. That actually shows how much I like RahXehpon, the fact I consider both so good that I truly cannot choose between them
