Shallow and Depressing

People who hate themselves are offered the opportunity to get cosmetic surgery, makeovers, and new clothes so that they can look "attractive", this show is terrible and works as a very long and glossy commercial for cosmetic surgery---if you hate yourself just get liposuction, a facelift, a nose job, etc. This is a perfect example of how screwed up and shallow people are. Maybe they should take it a step further and give men steriods and women can learn how to starve themselves thin from supermodels.

That is only one small, and narrowminded opinion of it. I see nothing wrong w/ it. If there were something I didn't like about myself I would change it too, especially if I looked like some of those people. But if they can live happier lives then more power to them.

its pretty hard to be happy with what u have if the poor guy has to face people everyday with teeth sticking out of his swollen gums - some people also dont have the money to do it themselves and this is the only way to get it, its worth a shot for most of these people, whats the worst that could happen. I do agree it;s not right to show the ugly people who didnt make it becuase thats not right.

What is sad is that after surgeries, they often (but not always) look fake... It's too bad!
But what I like about this show is when they take care of important problems (not liposuction, for example).
Like this woman who had almost completely lost her sense of hearing and the loss of her vision was becoming very serious. It was really nice to see her at the end, listening to music. But of course, she had to get a nose job, which was very unnecessary!

i think it's a great show, in the end, the people who got chosen, cry because they're so happy, it's nothing wrong with it! they know what they're doing, and they want to do it. i don't think it's tv:s fault that some people that watches the show, feel like they need an extreme makeover. those people need someone to talk to, that can help them.

I hope you have actually seen the show. Most people who are featured are in need of help for very real reasons, due to abnormality or deformity due to accident.

I worked as a model for a time on the show and I can tell you that the producers and talent on the program are incredible people, and while at times they just go through the motions (it's mostly the network's decision that is performed of course), they are very happy with providing a service for people, and go out of their way to be generous.

Anyway, that is just my perspective. I think it is a good one.

"due to abnormality"

Only the incredibly vain choose to disambiguate between what is perceieved as "normality" and "abnormality".

Having watched some people with 30 moles on their faces, 12 teeth instead of 36 or half a nose, or severe skin problems, I can say that it isnt an eastheatic problem at all. I watched this show by accidnet, I wasnt aware of it, and man, these guys do miracles. they gave to those people their smiles back.
thats a good show. they'll probably syndicate it to other countries, I bet on that.

I agree with you! Especially when people cry cause "They were made fun of in the third grade". Thats great, but know you have a husband and three kids so being atractive won't eally help you at this point. However, nothing is as vain and silly as the funny desiese where you come out of surgery with a foriegn accent. I remember one show I watched where a woman's son was crying because this happened to his mother. Hey kid! She could be brain dead! You'd cry over this? Give me a break!

It's happened more than once on this show. A child seeing their mother for the first time in months, who looks absolutely nothing like the person they came to love, and they cry

They cry because suddenly, after having no mother for months, a strange woman they have never met before steps in and takes over. Many times, due to jaw modifications and new teeth, they also speak differently.

To the child, this is literally NOT their mother anymore. It's a strange woman who has replaced their mother. They look physically different, they speak different, they now even act different.

You complete *beep* idiot. It would be kind of a serious emotional and psychological situation for a young child to be in, one that may in fact scar them for life.

or maybe they can sit around talking about their feelings and crying and singing kumbaya until they feel better...then walk by a mirror and feel awful again

Actually I think some way to add muscle to the men would be a great idea, but women don't look good when they get too skinny so the shows judicious use of lipo should be sufficient.
