Books on Duke of Monmouth?

Really fascinated by his character in Charles II (not just because he's played by Christian Coulson...honestly!!). Are there any good biographies and/ or fictional stories about the Duke of Monmouth that people could reccomend me? (I know I shouldn't ask this- my to be read pile is enormous already!)

A REALLY good historical fic that stays very true to historical fact is The King's Touch by Jude Morgan. There is also another good historical fic called Knock at a Star by Pamela Hill which takes a more objective view of Monmouth (whereas Morgan's hist-fic is in first person and therefore a bit more one-sided).

As far as straight bios go, The Protestant Duke by Violet Wyndham is pretty good. There's also a bio by Bryan Bevan, which I haven't read, but after reading his bio of Charles II's sister Minette, I'm not sure I want to as his writing is considerably amateurish.

Hope that helps! :-)

Yes, The King's Touch is brilliant. You'll want to read it at least twice.
