firing Lisa???

Arnold was ridiculous in firing Lisa. Like she would defy the project manager and run out of the truck in the middle of the live QVC airing and make him switch places. Yes, she could have said there were no spikes, but she already voiced to him that she should be modelling the equipment. Boy George did nothing, but show a picture of himself and saying that he lost weight without even using the equipment they were trying to sell!

I agree 100%

I guess Ahnold had to reach for a reason to fire Lisa.

reply

Arnold was just correcting a mistake. She should have been gone 2 weeks ago.

reply

She should have been fired long ago. I have no idea how she made it this far. Carson's decision was dumb, though. What was the point of Boy George on there?

"I lost 90 pounds! But, uh, not with this product." *leaves*

Lisa had to go since she was in the boardroom 5 times out of 7 loses. Carson should have Lisa be the one to demonstrate the product.

That was not by her own doing, and they dragged her to the boardroom. It wasn't as if they could say she did one particular thing to contribute to the team not winning.

I agree.. Boy George was completely under utilized. He should have said that contraption helped him lose his weight and then done some demonstrations. I love Carson, but he really messed this one up. I think he was blinded by just wanting that male fitness model on the stage with him.

Maybe poker's just not your game, Ike. I know, let's have a spelling contest.

Lisa should not have been fired. She could've won the whole thing!

How could he have said THAT device helped him lose weight when it had nothing to do with it? That's ILLEGAL.

As I heard the Guv say, she was producing the show on QVC. She needed to do something when she saw the low number of phone calls. But on seeing that nothing in their plans was working, she just let the people on screen move ahead with their planned script. She should have taken some action for change. The people on stage couldn't see what she was seeing, which is why it was her bad judgment in not doing anything to save the day that cost her.

Why don't we just shoot 'em down and be through with it?

reply

I don't think they took into consideration what a cheap piece of junk the exerciser looked like. I'm actually surprised Carson didn't break it, it looked that cheaply made. That had as much to do with the low caller response as the infomercial.

The other product looked much worse, cost more, and didn't ship for a month, but they still won.

Lisa didn't do her job as a producer. She had a legitimate gripe (and her gripes aren't always legitimate), but her reaction seemed to be to shut down, whereas her job was to do whatever she could to ensure the success of the project. She did not even mention to them that the numbers were stagnant.

Even with someone who has an approach as disorganized as Brooke's comes across on TV had a producer in their ear telling them what the customer response was.

Lisa was passive rather than active, likely because she was upset about the obvious screw-up on Carson's part.

I agree. Lisa should have demonstrated as she was the target demographic. I get that Carson has experience with QVC, but perhaps not in this particular product. George did not in any way, nor should he have, say the product helped him lose weight, he did say he would use the product because "now it's all about maintenance", but I agree his part was sort of odd. I get the story behind it though and felt his presence made more sense than Carson's. Lisa at the very least in her role as producer should have said "Hey, numbers are stagnant, try to do something to jazz things up and get the calls to come in." I agree that having her run out on stage and trade places with Carson would have been nothing short of awkward! I was really surprised when Arnold fired two people, and I'm a little confused about him firing Lisa just because she had been back in the boardroom so many times, as one poster stated above that not every time was necessarily of her doing. I am bummed that Carson was fired, I really liked him. He was not a backstabber and I really think he could have won the whole thing.

Lisa had a serious character flaw as a team player - she would play the "good soldier" and do what she was assigned to do ("task-oriented"), but lacked the ability to exercise any sort of judgement about how to fix a problem while it was occurring (leadership ability). Many of her trips to the boardroom included her complaining that she didn't like the decisions made by the project manager, but she offered no solutions to the problem.

As producer, she dropped off into the mindless good soldier role, but did nothing when she saw a flat response on her screen. A producer during a live event would know to DO something to change the numbers rather than sit back and watch her team fail.

So yes, she needed to be fired. Along with Carson for acting as a poor Project Manager. He didn't assign his players to the right position on the team
