New PJD show!

Paul Jr. is trying to get a show that is solely focused on his company... Will anyone watch?

reply

It would be unfair for OCC in my opinion! American Chopper has been on the air for 10 years, and so has Paul Jr, and everyone else! American Chopper has been on tv for a long time. A show just for Paul Jr would totally kill his relationship with his dad!

reply

I agree it probably would hurt his relationship with his dad. But none of Sr's sons really get along with him. So for Jr and Sr to not be on speaking terms again wouldn't be anything new. If it means Jr having to decide between making a living playing tv star, or being best friends with his dad? I think Jr would rather pay the bills making an easy paycheck. Besides, if he turned the tv deal down, how long do you REALLY think Jr and Sr can get along without having another falling out?

Sr and his son Dan gone back and forth in their relationship for years. Sometimes they get along, then they don't, and so on. It's like that with all three of his sons. Sr even admits it.

reply

Who cares about OCC? Sr. has piggybacked off Jr.'s work for the last 10 years and now that they split up it's become apparent that OCC really doesn't shine like Sr. thought it did. Without a show I bet you OCC will be closing up shop within the next year. There will be no reason for people to pay premium prices for a custom chopper anymore. The whole point is that they get a 1 (sometimes 2) episode advertising deal. Nobody needs a chopper at some of these companies. It's basically a drivable trophy with their logo on it.

If Jr. wants to create a show for his own shop, then he can go right ahead. Sr. has shown time and again that he's a complete jackass when it comes to forming a relationship with his sons and he can't be trusted. He'll moan and whine about how his sons don't love him and then when he gets the opportunity, he'll cut them down in front of his jackass friends and in front of the camera at their shortcomings. It's like he enjoys making fun of his own sons. If I were Jr., I wouldn't care at all about a new show being "unfair" to OCC or getting between him and Sr.

I haven't watched the show for the OCC segments since Vinnie left.

And anytime Pohl is on camera I grab the remote and start surfing for a couple minutes.

If OCC was gone from the show, I doubt anyone woudl really miss them.

Maybe we need a poll thread.

Absolutely! I always skip the OCC stuff anyways.

Is there a source for the news that Jr. is trying to get his own show? Really, he'd be crazy not to, because he probably won't be able to make any money without one. How many bikes did PJD build, anyway? Not enough to support the business, from what I've seen. Especially if they take back all the free machinery that's been donated for product placement/free advertising.

It could be a source of friction between him and his dad if Sr. gets left out in the cold. Unless Sr. retires, but I don't know if I can see that. One of the issues with Sr. is he doesn't seem to want to concede to age, he still wants to get in there and compete with the younger guys, be one of the young bulls. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Live life to the fullest, I say.

i am sure that PJD can survive without a show. it is a 5 people operation that takes premium prices for their hand made products. remember those two companies that went to OCC instead, because they could not pay PJDs requested price? we don't know the exact amount that they were asking, but considering the deals and exposures they had while the show was on, my guess would be that one single built can generate enough income to secure at least 3 months without any income.

i don't think that jr and sr will ever have a stable relationship ever. with or without a show. i know reality tv is there to distort, but we have seen enough material to have pretty solid idea of sr's personality. there are people that are so egocentric that no one could ever be friends with them. remember the end, when jr and sr wanted both shops to build a bike together and the first thing that came to sr's mind was to create a new company out of that? that says A LOT, if not all about his personality. not to forget the final meeting with vinnie? do i have to say more? sr will create friction out of anything he can find.

yea no hate to say both pjd and occ are struggling unlike what you see them posting sure occ has customers but on the other hand pjd seems to cant get a build if there life depened on it

reply

well, OCC obviously aren't as popular as they thought. just look at the failure of the OCC cafe chain. also, the people who could not afford PJD ended up at OCC, what does that tell you?

Well, in my opinion, if Jr got his own show that Sr and OCC had absolutely no involvement and not even mentioned, you would have kind of a boring show by tv standards. No conflict, no drama, and no reason for many current viewers to watch.

Many people watch American Chopper just for the drama and conflict. It's like people gawking at car accidents. Sure some people would watch an all PJD show. But not enough to get the ratings that tv channels want.

reply

there's so many people that skip the OCC segments.
i bet anything that if Junior got his own show Sr. would find some way to sue him.

reply

Put me in the list of people that always FFWD past the OCC guys..I'd love just a PJD show..

Some viewers just want to see the bikes being built, without any conflict or drama.

paulie building bikes that rich so far the last part of the final season of the show he built playground equitment and bicycles so yea and his camaro episode was more boring then watching paint dry

reply

How about a Jesse and Junior show? :D That I would definitely watch. No need to fabricate any drama it comes pre-built!

reply

I wouldn't be able to watch JJ, it'd be all ego and trash talk and never hitting deadlines cause he's such a "rebel"

reply

Good point. Imagine the first time JJ walks up on a reveal stage only to cuss out the crowd and tell them they aren't worthy of his talent and they'll get the bike when he is done sweating all the details. That would probably put a dent in the PJD business model. Lol

reply

I'll probably watch either way but definately if they bring Ricker over to join the fray. I can watch Vinnie and Cody go back and forth anytime, I'll miss them if they are gone for good. Pls give me my 1hour a week Discovery!!
