Was Vince Vaughn sleeping while doing this movie?

Despite seeing a majority of Stiller and Vaughn's other work, Dodgeball was one of those movies that I kept either forgetting to watch or just didn't have the opportunity to watch.

Well, I watched it the other day, and Vaughn almost put me to sleep. I get that Vaughn is supposed to be the "straight/calm" guy around the over-the-top performances of Stiller and everyone else.....but the guy looked like he just wanted to take a nap!

Even Stiller (when he plays the "straight" man) tries to bring something to the role (or at the very least looks like he is AWAKE).

Vaughn looked so bored and disinterested, I wondered if there were any behind the scenes things going on that could explain it.

Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things: Jack and sh*t and Jack left town

Maybe just the way he was told to play the character, Stiller was the complete opposite do maybe they wanted that. I don't really like Vince in anything. He seems like just your run of the mill basic actor but I thought he did a really good job in this.

He was far from your run of the mill actor in the infamous SWINGERS.

I've always thought this too. Vince seems to be phoning it in through a lot of this movie. A lot of time his signature dead pan wit feels forced like he's reading it off of que cards or something. This movie was the begining of my dislike for him as an actor. I don't know if it was the poor performance, or just his general over saturation in movies at the time.

but i dont want to argue with the other commenters.

I thought his delivery was dead on. I like to emulate his 'cool guy' persona, it's the way I'm wired. Subtle humor & an easy going mannerism goes a long way with people. That deadpan snarker sense of humor almost always wins people over because they know you're not really trying too hard. That's what makes it funny. The very fact that you don't care. Women find it refreshing because you come across as really down to earth & not pretentious or overbearing & he plays that type perfectly.

To me at least he's always seemed disinterested and bored in his movies. He always comes across quite aloof and I can never get behind his characters though I still need to see swingers which I'm told is good.
