confused by imdb's synopsis

At the end of the synopsis it says that the reflection in the mirror/window was the "beast." Then it says that the one reflected was the "ignorant." But the one that was reflected and smiling is the one that walks away..wasn't the beast/monster supposed to be the one walking away? Does this mean the one who died after 70 steps was actually the "ignorant" and now the "beast" remains..? Hence the sadistic kinda smile at the end when he hugs his daughter.
