I saw the twist from a mile away

I think the movie is good for the cinematography, subtle comedy and part of the story. But the twist is really foreseeable. Of course, I'll have to admit that before watching it I was already aware of a twist and therefore I was intentionally looking for it. For those of you who didn't know there was a twist: did you see it coming?

Edit: I did previously know there was 'a twist'. I didn't know what it was exactly. I was expecting something along the lines of ''the main character is crazy in an asylum'', ''it's all in his mind'', ''it was all a dream''... that kind of cliche. I didn't know the woman that helped him was his daughter before watching the movie. But when they said she had been sent to Sweden or something like that and she being so young and innocent and treating him like his protector... it kind of gave the twist away. I give this important to the twist because I was expecting a ''mindf@ck'' movie like Fight Club, Memento, Shutter Island, Predestination, Identity, Remember... that, supposedly, had twists no one predicted (except for Identity, maybe). So I was curious to know if this one was considered to be as unpredictable as the others, that's what my post is about.

I didn't know about the movie at all when I first watched it, but it completely blown me away at the end. It took me while to digest what I just watched. Cinematography, Soundtrack sure makes movie much better.

I didn't see it coming. But even if I did, I still would have loved the movie, as there is a lot to enjoy about the story, than just the twist only.

I thought it was his daughter in the middle of the movie since she seemed like an useful thing/tool but never used in the story.

But i was unsure until he showed us the note book.

I don't really remember but probably I must have stumbled upon Oldboy in one of those lists about ''mindf@ck'' movies (like Fight Club, Shutter Island, Predestination, Memento, Identity, Remember...).

I did too, We already knew he had a daughter that was 3 when he was kidnapped and that she would be roughly the same age as the girl in the restaurant before said scene. When they started talking about the other one looking familiar I knew that was a clear foreshadowing of the future reveal, and it even being rephrased afterwards made it so obvious you would have thought they never even intended for people to be surprised.

The plot twist of she herself also being hypnotized caught me off guard, however, so at least it had some unexpected going on.
