Why couldn't they remake it properly?

I found this movie to be excellent.
I understand Hollywood's motivation to remake it.

Why did they failed so miserably?
Why do they ALWAYS (Scorsese included) fail so miserably?

My opinion is that in this one, they changed too much in terms of pacing and athmosphere, didn't add anything to it, took away a lot of its appeal by interpreting lots of its crudest or grossest moments as comedy.

the departed is one scorseses best films

What are you smoking? It's not even in his top 5, maybe 10.
The good bits are all ripped off the vastly superior original, every new idea he added feels out of place, wasted or just wrong. And phony.
It's yet another hollywood bloated ripoff with money replacing talent, good ideas and originality.
The only good thing were Whalberg's bits.

Go watch Scorsese's really good films, he has so many.

The Wolf Wall Street was A Porn Film with a Budget also The Irishman was bloated and overrated happy it lost

That pretty much sums up his filmmography, like everybody knows...

yes, after only 3 movies. He could have directed some more, he seems like he knows a bit.

I like the idea that they reimagined it... made it a different movie than the original, but also with it's own flair...

I know many people wanted a straight, language-swap, remake... but we have the original... just watch it with subtitles... it's not like it was a very old movie from decades before the remake...
