She had two chances to run away !!!!!!

I would have run like a mad woman......silly, silly girl...can't even run away from an old man (who has no weapon on him).....
I would have gone into the lake, I would have done anything to get away....he grabs her; does she kick him in the b**** the second time ?? NO....I would though.....

reply

She had no chance to get away. She was locked in a cage, or he was always alongside her. When she does get a chance, when they're in his kitchen, she makes a run for it, but he catches her.

reply

What do you mean she had no chance to get away??

When she locked him in the cell, instead of jumping around screaming when he was shooting at her, she should have been running up the stairs.

reply

No, Hopper shot to her left, driving her away from the stairs. She never could've made it up.

reply

Admire your spirit! But, if I recall, Gina does struggle, and don't forget this IS Dennis Hopper! Besides, she does, in the end, get her revenge in spades! Or does she?

reply

Yep - Hopper is psycho enough to intimidate anyone.

She should have run harder at that point, especially when he was distracted unlocking himself, but playing Monday Morning QB is too easy.

When she is first let up into the kitchen and they are drinking wine, she ran too quickly, IMO (again, MMQB). She should have let him drink the lion's share of the wine while she discretely dumped her glass and run when he was most vulnerable.

You know your watching a terrible movie when a young girl can't run faster than a 70 year old man. Talk about an old movie cliche'!!!

reply

[deleted]

No, she was chained to the chair at that point in the movie.

reply

No! There were two scenes of her running outside but was caught by Hopper. Don't you remember???

reply

She had no chance to run away, only two chances to try running away, which she took. Once at night when she escaped her cell, and the second when she escaped the kitchen when they were having wine, and both were spotted by the chopper. It's a lot harder to run away than you might think. You're scared, lost, confused, and besides...you're dealing with the Hopper!

reply

As well...the Stockholm Syndrome affects people that are held hostage. Many don't feel the need to run away because they "connect" with their captor, or just adapt to the situation. She did try running, and saw the effects of that (being caught when she was distracted by the chopper, etc).

Plus, the Lt WAS a police officer, so more than likely he worked out (his character I mean, not Hopper). Some police departments even have annual physicals. She was just a frightened little girl, running in boots, across hilly terrain, while he was a trained police officer, used to running down criminals. Makes sense, I think.

reply

You're a 100% right! She found once she accepted his "point system", or at least pretended to, life got a bit better for her. And still she tried to escape again, but was caught, and brought back. She never gave up, and finally got her revenge. gs

reply

i'm watchin it now 4 da 1st time can anyone tell me wat happens cuz i have 2 leave

reply

I think she should have turned the point system on Hopper. She should have said at one point, "Letting me go would be a billion points." He might have been just crazy enough to fall for that IMO. I would have tried that.

reply

As the writer wish I would've thought of it. Thanks, gerald sanford.

reply

I distinctly recall him telling her that if runs more than 20 mph she'll blow up.

If you expect the unexpected doesn't the unexpected then become the expected?

reply

A great idea. Why didn't I think of that?! The writer.

reply

Yeah that was dumb.
