Man, this had the potential to be a great rediculously fun cult flick...
Unfortunately everyone involved took the film wayyyyy too seriously. How can you *beep* up a movie called The Gingerdead Man about a killer cookie? Anyone who watches this movie is going to want to see a gingerbread man killing people. Too bad he's only on screen for maybe 10 minutes max and only kills two people in a 60 minute long movie (70 if you include the 10 minute end credits!!!) Who gives a *beep* about a relationship developing amidst a cookie killing spree? These scenes were obviously tacked on to kill time when they could have added more scenes with the goddamn title character! "Remember when you went to my birthday party and you tried to kiss me so I gave you a bloody nose? blah blah blah" Who *beep* cares?! The whole script needed to be redone from scratch. This film should have had a lot less "drama" and emotional scenes, more deaths and a lot more humor. It just boggles my mind why Charles Band didn't make this a horror comedy like the Leprechaun or Chucky movies. I probably only laughed once and that was when the Gingerdead Man was bullying a rat, but even that seemed improvised on the spot and they added it later.
