Is suicide under self-help?

I watched this movie after Robin Williams died, so I could not help but make special note of the joke Alan made at the book store (for about the only comedic element I recall in the movie). He asked "Is suicide under self-help?" I wonder if that line was Williams's own idea.

I watched this yesterday and came here to post the exact same thing. He looked depressed in this movie and I dont mean just his character. It could have been his idea and seeing this movie came out in 2004 it is sad to see that suicide thoughts haunted him for 14 years.

It's not just this movie. Watch Father's Day. I forgot the beginning and was shocked.

If Robin's first scene Father's Day bothered you then don't watch The Angriest Man in Brooklyn. In that movie his character jumps off a bridge as an act of suicide. It was hard for me to watch because it's so recent, that you imagined that was how he looked in real life before he died.

A GREAT COMEDIAN AND AN EVEN GREATER MAN DIED ON MONDAY AUGUST 11. REST IN PEACE, ROBIN

Seeing him like this is disturbing, but as an actor we mustn't just assume that the role was his true spirit at the time. Mention his name and wild, exuberant humor comes to mind, but he was also a serious actor, a master of his craft.

If it wasn't, that writer is feeling hella guilty right now.

Watching that feels like being in an elevator that drops a foot when it should be still.

I've been watching old interviews and his demeanor is interesting, as if he wore mania as a mask.

I think I'm going to always wonder what he was really like as a person.

I wonder what he was like in real life too.

Yesterday i read an article where Terry Gilliam says that he thinks Parry from The Fisher King is as close to real life Robin as any character he played.

That was so weird to see that line pop up, I was kind of shocked when I saw it.
