Why do they censor organs on this show?
Trauma doesn't, Critical Hour doesn't. Why does Dr. G?

Maybe it has something to do with the American idea of dignity in death. I don't know. Besides, if you look, most of the time the "autopsy" scenes on Dr. G are dramatizations.
shareThat could very well be, but most of the autopsies on this show are reenactments, as you pointed out, so that just makes me wonder even more why they'd censor the organs. Maybe just lackluster effects dept.?

Since most of the autopsies are dramatizations perhaps they want to add a sense of realism by censoring the fake body parts.
shareits totally unecessary i'm glad they don't - it's beyond the point that unless you're studying to be a med examiner yourself. its like i just turned on the other night americas most wanted = they've gotten so graphic its sickening we get the point by the words not the acting out of pictures= the other night it was an abusive man with child= i mean really do they need to go out of their way to round up actors to do this over again? nooooooo
Let's have some yum yums, I've made snacks...
Maybe it has something to do with respect for the deceased and their family?
On shows like Trauma and Code Blue, the patients whose organs are removed are still alive and sign releases giving permission to be featured on the show. Granted the victims' family members give permission to be featured on this show, but some people might be a little mortified at the thought of seeing their dead relative's organs on TV.
I just think it seems different to see a patient getting their appendix or some of their bowel taken out than a dead person's heart or kidneys getting autopsied.
In her new book, how not to die, she mentions that she always uses dramatizations out of respect to the victims' famlies. This must include organs
McKey and Marjorie for ANTM Cycle 11!

OP, you forgot Actual Autopsy!!! It's because this show is on day time tv and America is such BS when it comes to trying to keep tv appropriate. Blame this stupid country and ...trust me, we are NOT free. We are censored!

Megan, there's no need for anyone to want to see that. Andie, you're disgusting and a freak; boohoo, you're not allowed to see some poor stranger's body, what an oppressed country!! Idiot. I'm very glad they censor body parts, in hospital shows (even ones where they leave the bodies uncovered for weird amounts of time) and in this show. God bless Dr. G for her noble discretion. If HBO does have some new autopsy show (I saw an old one that did NOT show everything uncensored) they sure as hell better show some respect, either covering some parts or at least not giving the deceased person's name.
shareI've seen Trauma Life in the E.R. and they don't show any graphic footage of entrails or organs.
They just show some blood but it's PG rated for the most part.
Only HBO's Autopsy showed all sorts of blood and guts. That's because it's HBO.

HBO doesn't make new episodes of Autopsy anymore but I wish they would since it was great.
