Dr. Jan Garavaglia, also known as Dr. G, made the announcement Friday.
Garavaglia has worked on several high-profile cases, including the Casey Anthony investigation.
"Casey Anthony will never leave me," Dr. G said.
Dr. G also helped shed light on drug-use trends in Central Florida and had her own TV show.
"People know if their loved one comes in here, they're going to be treated with respect. That is drilled in to my staff. That is not going to leave. That is culture now," she said.
Her last day will be May 28, and then she's relocating to her husband's rural hometown, which is 90 minutes north of Seattle.
"They'll find someone better than me," she said.
Dr. Joshua Stephany will step in as interim chief medical examiner.
Wow, I'm surprised she didn't at least a year or 2 more of shows before she retired. Her last year of shows was 2009 or 2010. She could've done a few more years before she retired!
