sharethis is way too late, but what you have to do is concentrate on the boost aspect of battle. at the beginning it assigns that earthquake attack to one of the...things...modifiers whatever at the bottom. the + points and + critical or whatever. pay attention to the order, and whenever the next one is the one that has the earthquake, make sure one of your characters is next in line to attack. if the mothership is next, boost into the next turn.
after you boost once, it normally doesn't get a chance to do that earthquake thing anymore, so just save up your boosts and use them all at the end. you keep getting to attack and it doesn't give the enemy a chance to heal
