U2 not appropriate for this film

I am a lover of lyrics and the meanings behind them, in addition, I am a HUGE fan of U2. This being said, I did NOT appreciate the use of U2's "Bad" for this particular film. It did NOT fit within the contexts of what this film was about. It's frustrating when people, especially film soundtracks, misinterpret beautiful songs and throw them in anywhere in any movie, without knowing what they are really about. I find it to be very disgraceful and in poor taste...but I will admit I'm a little overly passionate when it comes to music and the bands that I love. :/

I agree.

I am not a big U2 fan but I like this song and you are right - it just doesn't fit the movie.

So "should I stay or should I go" was fitting? A song does not have to LITERALLY cater to what any one film's plot is about--it's simply a tool to create a certain "feeling" for the tone presented within the film. In this case, the feeling that was initially created around our opening character was that he was an innocent, confused, troubled young man possibly running away from home. Is it necessarily the best choice to open the film with? Well, that's obviously subjective.

Maybe you're looking at this a little too literally.
