Wierd Easter Eggs In This Movie

1. At the begining of the movie when Shooter accuses Mort of plegarism you see that Shooter placed the manuscipt (Paper) under a large rock (Rock) and after you find out that Mort and Shooter are one and the same he pulls a pair of scissors (Scissors) on Amy. Rock, Paper, Scissors anyone?

2. In the epilogue of the film. Mort is buying groceries from the local store and he picks up Morton Salt, which Morton is his first name and in the background of the salt logo, it is raining. Mort's name is Morton Rainey.

3. At the end of the credits you hear Johnny Depp singing a song in a John Shooter voice.

Ha perceptive!

reply

What are you getting at with the Rock, paper, scissors thing?

reply

As for the name thing, Morton's salt slogan is "When it rains it pours" thus, Rainey as the last name.......

reply

#2 is pretty trippy... one is a real reach, #3 is a more or less "so what?" moment.

reply

Good catch! It would be good if you add the first to the trivia section. The second is already there and the third is like other poster said "a WTF moment". LOL

He was singing "mammie's little baby loves shortening bread."

Oh, tartar sauce.

reply

why do people always spell "weird" wrong. ahhh

reply

Strange, I can't remember how I caught the rock, paper, scissors thing. I'm pretty sure I noticed the Morton Salt thing on my own. The third one is one I found out about in the trivia, I believe.

I am a proud believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Moreover Mort reads book written by Hunter S. Thompson. Depp played Thompson in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"! Ha!

____
"Gdy w piekle zabraknie miejsca, umarli wyjda na Ziemie" - got it?

reply

lol @ rock paper scissors. im going to do that for every movie i see now! if i can combine them to make something completly unrelated to the film im gonna say i found an easter egg!!!

reply

The Thompson one I caught, too.

Late post, I suppose, but...

To your query #2, about his name: Morton Rainey and the Morton's Salt logo. Yes, that's a theme throughout the story. This is actually rather fully explained - spelled out for you - in the short story. In the end, Morton realizes that he has created an alter ego for himself, and realizes how he created that name out of thin air. The same theme shows up in other places. "John Shooter" and the detective is from "Shooter Bay" or something like that.

reply

The detective is not from Shooter's Bay, Ted is.

reply

Wow. I was 12 years old when I made this post lol. Can't believe people are still posting on it.
