Question

I caught some of the end of this movie. I have no interest in sitting through the whole movie. Not my cup of tea. But something stood out to me, that maybe someone could shed some light on. How do these children fight in a war with huge beasts that are five times their size. I suspect the armies were well trained battle hardended soldier serving their queen. So how did these little kids with no training, no experience, battle these solders and not only survive this war, but preserver and win? Can't wrap my head around that. If someone could be so kind, could you maybe explain?

reply

Kind of reminded me of the animated film 'Son of Batman', where the Character Daminon, who is a like 60lb kid, could fight and win against a 300lb muscular man, because of 'training'. Totally took me out of the film. No way I could suspend that much disbelief.

Basically they are able to fight and win because they are on goodness' side. I presume you know that the movie is allegorical and Aslan the leader is Jesus, the Messiah?

It's the same miracle that happened when David, a young boy, killed Goliath, a giant, using five stones and a slingshot. It may be hard for some to accept, but stories of the lesser armies winning battles are contained as fact in the Bible. Three men stood in a blazing furnace unharmed, while men lighting that fire perished from the heat. Daniel slumbered in a pit with lions and mystified his opponent by walking away unscathed.
The Holy Spirit is a force of power this world cannot comprehend, which is why I get so excited to see my kids engage these Narnia tales!

reply

Stones and a slingshot bringing down a giant is logical at least.

It's not really explained in the book, as I recall, but it's implied that something about Narnia causes them to grow up very quickly - Father Christmas' presents are a landmark in the process. In later books, when they return to Narnia, they can call on a lifetime's experience as Kings and Queens.
