Good Movie, Bad Ending

I thought this was a really good movie but it had such a bad ending. Why didn't she leave with him. Did they ever get together?

It leaves you reeling for more.

Overall I'd give it a 5/10

I knew as soon as she told Green that she had been to Hollywood that she was either lying or got cake'd the hell out and did a porno. It was so obvious but little did I know until later in the movie that L.A was actually Lower Alabama (died laughing).

Knowing this why care if she came along or not. You don't bring sand to the beach ya know. Don't get me wrong she was kool indeed, a rare breed of young woman to a degree. She didn't mind where Greene lived as he was poor. She didn't mind that he was a virgin and even promised to him that it would be wonderful (LOVED her for that). Didn't even mind when Greene unintentionally stood her up. Plus she was into horror movies too. I would have been a little dissapointed she changed her mind but knowing she has her own path to walk in life.

Regardless if Greene was gonna bring anyone along he should have brought his little brother. I though it was truely sad to see him leave his little bro behind in Alabama to later go back to family in Detroit. After what the two just went through his little bro's gonna need Greene alot as he grows into a man. Lil Bro seemed very spiritually grounded so it would seem he'll be alright in life but man I feel for him more than anything.... probably cause the little kid did such a great job in this movie.

Great movie I feel..... darker that Thumbsucker and Chumscrubber but in a similar vein indeed.

Absolutely, a fantastic movie. The reason she did not go with him to LA was because she was scared about how big it was out there, which she told him that in the movie. She was also scared that she would get out there and get involved in porno again like she did in Alabama, more than likely. She was probably did not want to leave her mother again, either.

Almost anyone who was born and grew up in a small town absolutely knows what she meant when she said she was afraid of how big LA is.

OK, but why lie about having been there? I can understand being overwhelmed by a big city but before getting there do small town folks make fibs about already having been there?

I think it had everything to do with her being pregnant and the child not being Greene's. Kinda like she was being real kool with him from jump so that he would trust her to later have unprotected sex... boom, father of an already conceived child that isn't yours through manipulation and deception

she wanted to impress him, which is what everyone wants when its someone they care for. I live here in alabama, and got a little sene in the movie (rob is family),and everyone i know, when they go somewhere new...are excited about it.so i dont think it was because she was overwhelmed w/ a big city. and i think she was going to have an obortion, and she didnt want to make him go through it is why she didnt want to go w/ him.

Awww Angevin Duvet in "Lightning Bug"! Man I just loved that character. Laura totally broke my heart. Freakin awesome! Buy that DVD you wont regret it

But yeah I was yelling at the TV 'Dont let her go Green! Make her go with you!"

But that would have not been in character for her I guess. Sad though :(

"...i think she was going to have an obortion..."
That's something I do not get -- if her mother is such a Jesus Freak, why does she seem to be steering her towards that? Or maybe she holds her reputation above her values...

I give a 10/10, but I wanted her to go with him to. I didn't understand why he didn't drive his mom's car, so that he could have a car when he got to LA.
