i've been wondering... angevin and her mother exchange those things... the key and that... thing that sort of looks like a box to me. does anybody know what's that supposed to be? must be something damn important if she decides to let go of her husband for it...

hm... how can you be sure of that? i mean it makes sense in a way but on the other hand... it's just one copy, so what's the use if her mother got it? i suppose she didn't want it because she wanted to know what her daughter was doing...

It makes sense in that she was most likely holding it over her mother's head, because she could use it to sully her good church going reputation (which they mention a few times in the film). But now that I think about it, the blabbermouth cop already knew about the tape (as he was involved with bringing her back), but it didnt seem that all the townspeople knew, so maybe it was actually still a secret. Anyone else care to weigh in?

It was also symbolic as it was the only copy in town. They both kind of held these things against each other and made tons of tension.

But actually, it's all pretty clear from the movie. Also the thing with her father killing himself. How did so many people miss that?

It's been 10 years though dude, so I have forgotten most details about the movie. All I remember is that it was great and so it was on a todo list to watch it again with a recent girlfriend (now ex, so that todo list got scrapped) of mine.
Being the dork that I am, I listened to the DVD commentery. The director says that the white thing is a VHS copy of the naughty video that she made. In the locker is a box with the suicide note from the dad and some cash he had left for her.

That was only a rumor. Green found out the truth when he and Billy and Tony were walking through the cemtery and he saw the headstone of Angevin's father saying he died in 1979.

Is THAT what the white box was! This film jumped and flipped and dipped all around so fast (not to mention I had to keep jacking the volume up, as they ALL mumbled!!!) that I could never keep track
of what was going on. Or even who was who sometimes!
