Did anyone else get a Children of Men or Enter the Void vibe?

The cinematography in this film was very well done imo and I think it's made better by the long, drawn out shots. These shots sort of get you immersed in the events unfolding like a passenger along for the ride. I was reminded of the extremely well choreographed shots in Children of Men. Also, the positioning of the camera behind the characters' heads distinctly reminded me of Enter the Void. Does anyone know if Alfonso Cuaron and Gaspar NoƩ were influenced by Van Sant's work?

You should watch the work of Bela Tarr and the Dardenne brothers.

Yes indeed. Lorna's Silence.

No. Great cinematography, but it didn't remind me of those films at all. Definitely more Dardenne or Tarr as people have stated.

thankfully Elephant did not have all the shaky cam of Enter the void

Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

All 3 are very well done but completely different. Enter the Void was like being on an acid trip and Children of Men was just very realistic. The long shots in Elephant were incredible and very impressive. Cinematography is probably my favorite aspect of films in general and I definitely like all of these.

I thought of Children of Men due to how blue the highlights in both films are. Nice observation

Soemthing... something... British filmmakers... something... history of documentary construction influencing American directors...something something.
