Actually, it will eventually be re-written from scratch about a dozen more times, trying to make it keep up with newer games, but constantly behind. In the end, they will give up and just release it for the PS9—the one with direct-to-brain technology (check GV or YT for a copy of the commercial).

Actually, Synetech is right. Not for the PS9 stuff () but for the fact that the developers are continually trying to keep up with quickly-advancing technology, which is very, very hard to do. Frankly, I think they've got some kind of brainlock - I mean, no other games publisher has ever been like this, have they? The only one that's come close has been Ion Storm with Daikatana, which also changed engines mid-development at very great cost...
...and look how THAT turned out!
