I wasn't very impressed

There was a lot of hype about Vera Farmigra in this movie so I had high expectations when I watched it but I don't know her performance just didn't get to me. Weird. It's like I was always seeing ACTING and I didn't feel she was natural at all. She was very poor in The Departed probably because she was out of her league working with greats like Scorsese and Leo. But you never know the girl could surprise us some day with a great performance, and she is very pretty with radiant eyes. Just my persoanl opinion.

OMG you are the scary one Isabelle! Who the hell are you anyway and hello my name is NOT Clarice! I actually DID see Down with the Bone and I simply wasn't very impressed by Vera Framiga's performance in it. Did you just take a look at my other posts and see that I love Kate Winslet? Yeah I do, but big deal, I also love Jennifer Connelly, Emily Watson, Frances McDormand, TONI COLLETTE, lots of other actresses ok? Vera Framiga just isn't one of them and I'm sorry to burst your bubble. She's an attractive girl just not a great actress. That's my opinion and I shouldn't have to defend it.

And did you really think your precious little Vera Framiga would get an Oscar nomination for a tiny independent film like Down with the Bone? And you call ME delusional, lol. You give me gas.

I thought Vera's performance was pretty good and realistic, you could feel her desperation. and Hugh Dillon as Bob was hotter than hot, I would have fell for him too, even though he was bad for her being a druggie, too.

What's a ' persoanl ' opinion? Is that anything like a personal opinion? Did you know that IMDB has an ' edit ' feature?

I had no problem with the performance. I thought Farmiga was quite good. I suggest the movie "Nothing But the Truth" for another good Farmiga performance. I didn't quite buy the ending of "Nothing But the Truth", but I could forgive that because the rest of the movie was so good.

I liked "Down to the Bone" fairly well, but it's not going to go down as one of my favorites. I like lots of arty independent films, small films that zero in on one individual's plight. (I loved "Winters Bone", this director's more recent film.) But in this case, I was left wondering what I was supposed to get out of watching this. I sympathized with the main character. I thougth she was essentially a good person who'd made mistakes. But still, she made stupid choices. She was making some fair attempts at straightening her life out, yet she continued to make stupid choices that cost her dearly. At the end, I didn't feel very confident she wouldn't make stupid choices again.

But I already knew drugs were bad. I have enough sense to never go near anything like that. So I'm kind of left wondering what I the viewer am supposed to take away from this.

There was a lot of hype? I hadn't heard about this movie until last year.

Normally I'm attuned to hype (can't avoid it, unfortunately), but I hadn't heard of this film until I found it in the library a few weeks ago. I think Vera Farmiga gave a decent performance here, but the script and plotting are a bit underwhelming.

This feels like a first-time indie project that would have a no-name cast, the type of film critics would generally describe as "well meaning" because they didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

rotfl wow you really have no idea what acting is. But then.. if you think that "Leo" is an actor, it explains a lot. Hollywood acting v. real acting.

that's where i would definitely disagree. she had some pretty good chemistry with Matt Damon earlier in the movie when she met his character in the elevator etc.

i also like the scene with her and Dicaprio when he's in the office with Vera and is trying to get some pills to calm his nerves and she won't give them to him initially.

she is very pretty with radiant eyes.

there we go ;)

she's hands down THE most attractive actress out there and had been my clear #1 for roughly 5 years now and i don't see that changing into the foreseeable future either. i can honestly say i have never laid eyes on a more attractive actress than Vera and i doubt i ever will as she's got lasting appeal and that look in her eyes with the warmth she projects etc is a rarity to say the least ;)

hell, i would even go as far as to say counting any semi-famous to famous person that Kari Byron (from the TV show Mythbusters) is the only person i would put on Vera's level of attractiveness.
