Ive heard alot of people complaining Eddie Spear's character was so racist in the begining. Im not trying to defend his actions but I think every Native goes through what he went through. Esecially when he was talking about shooting at the natives in the john wayne movie. A lot of Native people I know including myself are torn between heritage and the modern age. Blood is something that goes with you everywhere. Elders are always preaching about the old ways and a revolution. But we live in modern society where the old ways do not exist. I was talking to someone the other day who didnt even know who Native Americans were *They mustve had a great history teacher* I think in this alot of people can understand where his character was coming from.

I agree with everything you just said. How sad is it that throughout high school, I did not once the see the word "Native American" once in our text books? I live in Canada for crying out loud.
As long as we know the truth.

If you live in Canada then that is very pathetic lmao. I was looking through my younger cousins history book started when the pilgrims hit plymoth rock and then it skipped all the way to the civil war. Although I think we didnt talk about them at all when I was in high school lolz.

This is too painful for words but when I first attended school this year, there was a group of guys, around my age, who I met and they did not know that there were "different kinds of indians"!! It was horrifying. They thought that me and my cousins were just joking when we told them that we were Ojibway. They had no clue what we were talking about. These are Canadian guys we are talking about and had this dumb look on their faces.
Quite, quite sad.

It is indeed, but anyone dumb enough not to know that there are many different tribes probably isn't really worth worrying about.

Most Canadians I know are far more aware of the differences, and I've never heard them use the word "Indian". They say First Nations.
