its terrible when the best actor was a country singer and they only gave him a dozen or so lines

LOL Thats some rather unique criteria for judging a movie.

Yes, it COULD have, had Schroder received the funding. Are you aware of the fact that the budget was only $1million (a pittance by Hollywood's standards) and that the entire film was shot in less than 3 weeks?

Taking that criteria into account, this film was a very, very good first effort at both writing & directing by Schroder. He needs to work on writing love scenes 'cause those were a little stilted, but overall this film has a good message and was nicely done.

Budget was around $800,000 Thanks to other interested tribes and yes, about three weeks and alot of effort put forth by the Navajo Nation to help produce this feature. On practically a donated scene for scene completion.

I thought it was a good movie. yes, some lines were stiff and a little unnatural but overall its an enjoyable movie. Russell Means is always awesome and Eddie did an excellent job plus he was EXTREMELY hot in this movie. I couldn't take my eyes off of him...

If you thought Tim McGraw was the best actor in this film, you must be nuts. That guy couldnt act his way out of a wet paper bag. His role was small but important, this movie would have caused a bigger stink with a better actor in that role. With only a million dollars, im suprised it got made at all.

Oh god I totally agree. It was HORRIBLE! The biggest problem with the film wasn't the cinematography or anything that could be affected by funding, but the writing. It was just sooooo lame!! As an athlete AND a navajo growing up on the rez (actually near where they filmed) everything was just so bad, so far fetched, and such a cultural cliche it was embarassing. I've never said or done any of those things, and I think in its attempt to "modernize" or break the stereotypes of American Indians, it actually set us back. And I do agree with those who said Tim McGraw was good, he was. And he and Faith were very gracious while filming out there. Futhermore I don't know how they could have let Russell Means be in this movie about Navajos, considering the unbelievable amount of disrespect and disregard he has shown the tribe!

You're a majority of one, apparently, since the Navajo Nation is where this was filmed and the Nation welcomed the entire crew. What stereotypes? There was poverty & alcoholism, yeah, but there was also overt, disgusting racism from virtually every White person Black Cloud came in contact with. Did THAT bother you as well, or just the stuff you say is a stereotype about Indians?

I get your last point, about Means, though. But Hollywood isn't reality, eh?
