Oh, please...

Anybody that watches "Late Night Poker" knows that this is just Americanised bullsh*t.

An audience? A time limit? They've completely ruined any suspense or tension which is so brilliantly utilised in "Late Night Poker".

And would somebody tell those idiot commentators to shut the *beep* up for a couple of minutes? This isn't bloody NFL, for god's sake.

Any of you guys watch the poker events on FoxSports?

I haven't caught any of the shows yet myself, but I've heard some players prefer them to WPT or WSOP. Apparently Howard Lederer does a very good job with the commentary on Fox.

I've never seen Late Night Poker, but I've heard a lot about it. Anybody know if it's shown at all in the U.S. or been released on DVD?

Late night poker was carried in the US for about 5 minutes. LNP is boring and slow.

Ok First off what time limit are you talking about. The time for the blind levels or when a player calls for a clock against another player? The first one is simple it is to put pressure on people to keep the game moviing. The other reason is that when you are sitting there and someone cant make up there mind what to do you call time on them to let them know A they are holding up the game and B pressureing them to make mistake.

An audience well poker has always been popular with people here the whole idea of audience came from a legendary poker match between Nicholas "Nick The Greek" Dandols played a marathon poker game with legendary Johnny Moss at The Horseshoe the only condition that Benny Binion owner of the Horseshoe have was that it was played in public and it was a very popular attraction and in 1970 Benny Binion wanted to to recreate that feeling so he created the World Series of Poker.

The point of the commentators is to help people who aren't familar with poker why this player made a call that looks a little crazy. The whole point of the WPT is to open people up to poker who might think it is for hustlers and cheaters. To be honest it is both a blessing and a curse for the game its a blessing because more people are playing poker most game at the WSOP is up by 72% and thats games like omaha and seven card stud variants for Hold'em its up over 100%. So dude relax

if it wasn't for late-night poker noone would be using hole-card cameras of any kind.. they came up with the original idea.... so as a Brit I'm proud of that... but yeah, its really really boring compared to the wsop or wpt, definitely... most exciting thing in lnp was when hellmuth won the 3rd season.... first time i'd seen him win anything tournament wise since 89'....

keep it real americans, aussies and brits alike...
