Bad writing?

I'm sorry, but I can't watch one of the episodes to this or iCarly without having moments where I just want to turn it off. A good portion of the episodes are extremely unrealistic and/or unappealing.

Megan's pranks are extremely overdone. What with all her little techno gadgets, the hole she cut in the floor in the episode that Drake & Josh stunned her hamster.

And not only that, but Josh always overracts at the worst of times, and Drake's luck in relationships are too much for me.

Does anybody else agree that Dan Schneider isn't a very good writer? The Amanda Show and What I Like About You are fine, but iCarly and Drake & Josh just aren't written well in the later episodes.

I agree. Dan Schneider is an awful writer. He also uses the same jokes in everyone of his shows.

I hear everybody that you know is more relevant than everybody that I know.

Dan schneider is a great writer , with a unique style of humour that stands out . you don't ahve to like it , but judjing a sitcom by how realistic it is is silly .

Remember that the shows are for children.. That pretty much describe the weird scenes and the bad jokes.

I guess the writing is so bad they pull a Microsoft and are too lazy to come up with their own ideas so they just take ones of others and pass it off as a tribute, since we know the kids watching this show made for a younger group wouldnt be old enough to get the so called "lucy" joke.

reply

Of course we got the I Love Lucy reference.

Drake & Josh isn't the only show to copy that conveyor belt joke, and they certainly won't be the last.

It's cheesy, but I like it regardless. It's basically the "white" version of Kenan and Kel. Way better than iCarly in my book.

Dan Schneider is a pretty bad writer, but I think it was more of a gradual turn. Watch "All That", then Drake & Josh, then iCarly, then Zoey 101, then Victorious, and you will see that each show slowly gets more unfunny than the last. Drake & Josh was good, but everything afterwards seemed to be a downwards spiral.

I really loved Drake & Josh. Of course, I was a kid when I watched it, but still I found it really enjoyable. My favorites have to be Drake & Josh and What I Like About You. I liked Zoey 101 but I felt like that sort of started to fall apart towards the end. I liked The Amanda Show when I was little too, but only some sketches, like I enjoyed Moody's Point but I hated that MAAHAAA character and the hillbilly moment stuff.

I don't think Dan Schneider is a "good" writer compared to other TV show writers but I think he is fairly good for the genre he is trying to reach. I mean I didn't like the overboard moments in Drake & Josh where it's like "come on guys you're trying way too hard" but I think it had some funny moments. I think Drake and Josh had some good comedic timing in some episodes. I feel like iCarly and Victorious are WAY too much, maybe it's because I'm older now and I don't have the same nostalgia for them as I do for Drake & Josh, but when I sit down now at age 18 to watch Drake & Josh, I still find it enjoyable whereas I just cringe watching iCarly and Victorious most of the itme.

I think Dan Schneider is good at what he does but it's just for kids and sometimes he goes overboard with the absurdism.

I think the show started to go downhill toward the end. At first Megan's pranks were more cute and mischievous that were pretty funny sometimes, but when they started making it the main plot to episodes is when I thought it got annoying. Like is that her only character trait?

I also started to get irritated in the last season where they had too many episodes which dealt with Drake and Josh being stranded somewhere for the whole episode. Mrs. Hayfer's bathroom, the side of a road, in a doorless treehouse. None of these episodes were funny and they were always entirely negative and boring! I'm sorry Dan, but you could've done much better.

I was pretty young when these shows were on. I may have been a little younger than the target age group. Watching re-runs of Zoey 101 now that I'm older, I've gotten more laughs out of the earlier episodes. I think Zoey 101 might even be underrated compared to some of the others. Better yet, maybe I was just laughing at it because it wasn't very good. In the end, it was more about who ended up together and became more of a teen soap opera.

Hmm, I was an adult when my "baby" brother (16 years younger than me) got me into the show, and I loved it! Yeah, it was cheesy, but that doesn't mean the same thing as bad.
