These judges stink

I know it takes time to get your feet beneath you in a new job, however these judges don't give valuable critique, they're impressed by the mediocre photos, and with the exception of Ashley, they're not very likable. If you're not likable that's fine, but at least give useful critique. The Paper magazine guy (can't think of his name) is just annoying. He tries to be the hard ass but he's not intimidating so it doesn't work for him. Law Roach is ok, but the best part of him is his name. He doesn't really add anything to me. Ashley seems to be a good fit in theory but her feedback isn't that much more helpful than the others. Rita is fine as the host. With the social media/branding direction the show is trying to go, I get it. But if I hear one more person say the word,"Boss" I'm gonna scream. Lol
true bosses don't run around saying, "I'm a boss". They simply exude it.

I like them a lot more than the previous judges! I disagree about the Paper guy...he seems to give it to them straight without seeming super self-congratulatory or overdramatic. I think Ashley is the most annoying, if only because she's really arrogant -- the "THAT'S why I'm a supermodel" moment was irritating as hell, as if tipping a hat at the right moment makes you a genius...

What I've got in my head you can't buy, steal, or borrow. I believe in live and let live.

What!! you didn't like Mr Jay? lol He and Nigel were my two favorites. Janice was annoying and Ms Jay never added much more than her/his walk so i do agree there. I think what's missing is the insight from a modeling perspective from the host because Tyra gave great advice and seemed really invested in all of them. Rita doesn't add much in that department.

Yes!!! that part when Ashley said, "That's why I'm a supermodel" was very annoying! I feel like she's secretly arrogant and hiding it behind her weight. and maybe gets a pass because she's a plus size model. And people think, 'Oh, that's not arrogance; she's just confident"

I so agree. Drew Elliot seems to know his stuff.

She is the absolute worst among the judges. She just seems fake, like everything she says and every smile she flashes are designed first and foremost for the camera.

"What time is sunrise?"
"When I open this door."

Agreed, I've been saying it since the beginning. The thing that ticks me off the most is they either scream YAAAAAS at a photo they like, or say 'Oh gurl this is bad' to a photo they don't like, and that's it!!! They don't say how the model could've done better by extending her neck, or bending her arm, or straightening her back etc. The girls literally have nothing to work with after half a season!

reply

agreed. panel has become a bore-fest because of it actually. 

WORD.

And all Rita does is go "I don't like this photo" or "This photo makes me want to be you" or "want to be your best friend" or "want to hang out with you" or "want to f- you". No real constructive feedback, no guidance, zilch.

Times I miss Tyra, at least she is a true supermodel and however diva-ish or egoistic she can be on the show, she guided the contestants well and even often approach a model during panelling to show how to pose correctly.

I agree with the constant, "I want to be your friend in this picture", etc. I want some real critiques. I want them to pick more pictures based on being a model.

I don't miss Tyra or the other judges, but if they bring this back they need to get new judges. At the beginning the only one that I liked was Ashley. Now it's probably Drew because he gives a little feedback. They need new judges that like you all said critique and tell the models what to do. If new people go into this and that is what they are getting, they are going to be in trouble when they go and try to find an agent or get in front of a photographer. Speaking from experience unless a photographer wants you to pose a certain way, you're on your own with posing. Top Model sometimes makes modeling look easy when it's not.

I'm not a fan of the judges at all this cycle, they don't give ANY constructive feedback and agree that they can't just say trendy catchphrases like "You are workin' it like a boss!" What does that even mean?

I miss when they use to actually tell you what you specifically did right or wrong, instead of just calling it fabulous and leaving it at that. We used to actually learn things about modelling from this show (mostly from Nigel and Tyra) about negative space, lengthening your neck and legs, how to hold your hands, creating a subtle expression, how to better fit the brief.

Drew is probably the only one who looks at them through the lens of a potential client, but he also works with them on every shoot so he sees a lot more than the other judges. Rita might as well not be there for as much as she seems to care about the girls, she doesn't ever talk to them before shoots and give advice or do any mentoring.
