Why this movie is mediocre instead of a masterpiece

The problem with the movie Madhouse is we know the truth right from the beginning, so the reveal is actually no reveal, and so the ending is not only anti-climactic, it's boring and inedible.

The movie becomes a forgettable, regrettable bore, a chore to get through, the story lacks creativity, depth and intelligence.

Jordan Ladd is beautiful, that is all.

The movie should have starred Alan Rickman and been rewritten.

I must be dumb as bricks because I had no idea what the truth was from the beginning. In my defence I did watch it at 4am... But still, it was a mediocre movie.
