I recorded this, and stopped and restarted in twice before finishing. There was something that held my interest but I never quite got the point.

Was the Father the commander who had killed the father of the 2nd young soldier that shows up? Or was the Father in love with the 2nd soldier's Father, and was the commander who got him killed? It was a great looking film that held my interest but found it confusing.

I've seen the movie multiple times, but not recently. If I recall correctly, it was my impression that the father knew why his friend had disappeared--because the friend had killed the commander. The father was withholding this information from his friend's son to protect the friend and the friend's son.
