Sounds like you've seen the original Zatoichi movies, and as such you were using those as a benchmark and wasn't going to be satisfied with anything less than Shintaro Katsu. This is the only thing that would explain you making such a ridiculous claim as Takeshi Kitano having "no screen presence".
