Any word on a possible sequel to Zatoichi?

I have been waiting and kind find anything on a sequal. This movie as a a very special feel for me, the music, humor and drama seem to be harmonious. I've seen it over and over and over and over, etc.... and would love any REAL info on a sequal

he was close to making it then took a year off,the script is done

Yeah , a sequel would be sick ( hopefully they`ll work harder on the CGI swords ) Although , they did look good on DVD .

The only news I've heard of any Zatoichi sequel is when he said that "if" he ever makes a sequel, he'll include a scene where the blind swordsman would be facing down a rapid firing gun (I don't know what this is called in that era, a howitzer?) and Ichi would use his sword to deflect the bullets.

I would so want to see that scene.

i know a few years ago i read about a press conference where kitano announced they would definitely do a zatoichi sequel - but that was the last i heard about it. i really hope that kitano does another zatoichi after he's done with that wierd takeshi's-esque banzai thing he's doing right now!

Probably a gatling gun, similar what was in The Last Samurai.

It would probably be a cool scene, but it would also be way out of place for a Zatoichi film.
