why do people think that he wasnt blind, the title says it all. why would the title say that he is blind and people say he isnt.

Anybody heard anything about a sequel yet cuz I remember him saying that if this film was successful that he would do another. So far I havent heard anything yet.

Yeah that was the last thing I heard he was going to do with the series but after that I stopped catching wind of this so-called sequel.

I was waiting for someone else to chip in, but nobody has. What I mean, cyanfenix, is that Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman is a figure of legend - I gave you two traditional and two modern examples of other legendary types. Even Takeshi Kitano, eccentric though he is, does not tamper with legend to that extent. His Zatoichi allows the yakuza boss to think that he can see, but this is just another ruse to put him off his guard. Then you get the tripping-over-a-stone at the end to put the record straight.

Zatoichi is blind. Full-stop. Saying "I can't see what I can't see" doesn't mean "I can see".....it means "I'm blind".

Taken from an interview Takeshi gave to KFC cinema, when asked about his motives to do it:
"I finally gave in on one condition: I would have to be allowed to make the film the way I wanted as long as the main character remained a blind masseur named Zatoichi who is also a master swordsman and a dice-gambling genius. Everything else would have to be entirely my own creation."
Therefore, he is blind.
So the part "what I can't see"="anything & everything" because we've established pretty unequivocally he's blind above...
