Samurai Glee Club

Firstly, I thought this film was good. But I would have left a good 20-30mins on the cutting room floor. 5 of those mins would have been the dance number at the end. If you like that sort of thing, fair enough, but I can imagine others like me felt it was toe curling Asian cheese at its worst. The "stomp" style scenes in the field and building the house were O.K but still a little out of place. Also the simple samurai village idiot? Was expecting him to charge a villain, possibly save the old Aunt Oume, accidentally maybe? Or even die? But nothing. He was like decorative pillows: He served no purpose... other than being a noisy clown. Not needed, as The Gambler (is it Shiniki??) provided a decent comic relief, along with other characters.

To round up, class film- but block out the panto.

Yeah, I didn't know they could tap dance back then.

What we have here is failure to communicate!

Just watched this movie again....I still love the dance scenes.

Yeah I wouldn't have included it in the film; it just felt really out of place. Agree with you on the village idiot too.
