How do you explain Eva Braun??

it is impossible.

reply

It's not uncommon for extremely insecure women to become completely dependent on a domineering man. She clearly had psychological issues, maybe it went all the way back to the rocky relationship between her parents.

reply

You think they had sex? Hitler was disgusting.

reply

Yes, they had sex. Apparently they had a pretty normal sex life. Some women are attracted to disgusting men.

reply

I read a biography of Eva Braun and the author claims many women were attracted to Hitler. Power is a love potion.

reply

There is absolutely no source known that uspports what you just said. At least I never heard anything about it, on the contrary.

Go ahead and share your sources...

reply

What part of my post are you referring to???

reply

Obviously the part about their "normal sex life".

reply

Are you kidding me??? It's in her biography by Heike Görtemaker. And if you simply google their names and "sex life" you'll find close sources like Hitler's valet and Braun's maid claiming they had a normal sex life.

reply

How could Hitler be disgusting to Eva Braun? He was charismatic and the most desirable man in Germany during the 30's.

Because of what we learned after the war, Hitler is always portrayed as a crazy, angry and ugly man, but this isn't how he was at the peak of his power. He did charm the entire German people into dictatorship.

reply

The same way you explain any woman dating a powerful/rich/famous man.

reply

Agreed.

I couldn't understand why some of the Nazis at the end felt it necessary to use a bullet to the brain immediately after ingesting the capsule (cyanide?) which was supposed to take effect within 2 seconds.

reply

It did seem like overkill. Both Goring and Himmler killed themselves while in custody using just the cyanide capsule. It worked just fine for them.

reply

My understanding is because Hitler said the most effective way of killing yourself was a bullet in the mouth pointed up so the skull and brain exploded...that's what they preferred...but fearing they might feel the pain they took the cyanide as Hitler said it's the most quickest way because it paralyzed the nervous and respiratory systems and kills you in 2 seconds...so take the pill..it numbs you and you then shoot yourself.

Given what happens to most genocidal despots after they are captured, you would not want to leave a thing to chance.

Look what happened to people like Robespierre and Mussolini... angry mobs can get pretty darned creative!

reply

Hitler was suspicious. He wasn't sure the cyanide he'd been given was the real deal. His whole style of rule was to give his senior henchmen overlapping areas of responsibility and let them vie with each other for more power; it was his way of keeping them divided against each other so that no one got powerful enough to challenge him. He perceived himself betrayed at various points in his life, first when Rudolf Hess flew to Scotland to start private negotiations with the British, and toward the end of the war, by Goering and Himmler. He wasn't sure that the cyanide given him by the SS wasn't diluted or adulterated or outright replaced with something harmless. He wanted to make sure he didn't wake up in Soviet captivity days or weeks later. And I suppose he took the poison before shooting himself anyway as insurance in case he botched the suicide attempt and only injured himself -- that does happen sometimes. Belt and suspenders approach.

reply

I appreciate this well written and plausible explanation. Was this suspicion conveyed in the film because I don't remember it? Considering how detailed your post is, I assume it is knowledge gleaned elsewhere.

reply

She seemed pretty warped... She actually pulled a fake suicide attempt to basically force Hitler to take care of her. He was devastated by the recent suicide of his beloved niece so it was an easy way to manipulate him.

As for the bullet on top of the cyanide, it was just to make extra sure. Wouldn't want to survive and get hauled before a world tribunal or anything...

reply

There were as few Germans who supported Hitler, he was not a mass murderer acting on his own.

reply

"it is impossible"

Not really, girls were crazy for Hitler at the time. For the most part, he was seen as the savoir of Germany. She probably felt very lucky to be with him, in her mind it was like sleeping with a god. Although, I think she had her own mental issues working against her. I mean, to follow someone all the way to their death like that is kind of nutty. I would imagine that she probably had chances to get away but decided to die with him.

Perhaps it was some kind of symbolic reasons for why she did it. As if being remembered as "Hitler's girl" for all times was how she could cement her place in history. or some crap like that....

Although, it would probably make for a rather intriguing fictional film where she somehow survives the war and leads a tumultuous life afterwards. I would probably watch it... who would play Eva? haha...

Elle Fanning perhaps? what about Chloë Moretz? hmmmm... interesting....

anyhow, here's a picture of girls swarming around Hitler... yep, they liked him -

Cult leaders like Hitler are great at victimizing everyone in their path. At least one or two women killed themselves over Hitler before Eva Braun, and then she killed herself as well. Also, Hitler was known as a 'cradle robber' and a man who liked pretty but unintelligent women. Eva definitely fit this description.
