Veil Being the Cause of the Orginial Murders?

the husband was jealous of his wife having an affair and veil was supposedly walkinging near the house at the time of the murders. could we draw a conclusion that he was having an affair with the wife thus setting off the rediculous set of events that followed? it's one that isn't made clear but never brought up either

**spoiler maybe?**

i don't think so, if the affairs happened, they would have been before the twins were born as the father thought that children weren't his. Veil walking on the night of the murders should not have been related to the affair

That's not necessarily the case. Perhaps the twins were actually the husband's and the wife just recently started having an affair with Lee. The father then discovered the affair and in his rage assumed that the twins weren't his.

Lee is put on trial and the husband thinks, "Bonus! Not only do I get away with killing my cheating wife, but her lover is put to death for it."

But when there is a mistrial and it is obvious that Lee will will go free, the husband can't handle it and hangs himself.
